At Ipswich Grammar School, we understand that children have unique personalities, learning styles, interests, and social and academic needs. As a result, our curriculum at the primary level combines strong classroom programs with individual student programs so the boys enjoy coming to school and have a positive attitude towards education. They feel valued, safe, and confident, with a supportive pastoral care system headed by the classroom teacher.
In the early years, the Prep to Year 2 curriculum provides boys with learning opportunities and experiences which are engaging, challenging, authentic, and flexible. Literacy and numeracy skills are integral to foundation learning. By engaging in problem-solving situations, incorporating play, and having healthy and physical activities, boys learn to create, express and challenge themselves.
These fundamentals are further enhanced in Years 3-6 through the introduction of a varied program including the Arts, Science, Languages, History, and Geography, to assist boys develop a wide range of skills while enjoying the challenges of new experiences. Physical Education programs help boys develop teamwork and confidence in a safe environment. Our programs promote self-reliance, friendship, leadership, values, personal organisation, and responsibility.
These early years provide a vital step in any boy’s education so they will confidently grow into the larger school community that is Ipswich Grammar School.
