Personal Grooming Expectations

Boys are expected to arrive at school with a haircut which conforms to our guidelines of hair no shorter than a blade III, no artificial colouring, tracks or any other abrupt change in lengths. Once shaving is necessary, it is expected the boys shave every morning.

Items required for the first day

Junior School students should bring a lunchbox, water bottle, hat and his PE attire if he has PE scheduled on Mondays (timetables can be checked in Schoolbox).

Booklist allocations ordered through Box of Books have been delivered directly to IGS. You may have been notified that some items you have ordered are on back order. Please rest assured Box of Books have communicated this to us and we have enough resources to start the year off until those items arrive.

If you ordered through an alternate supplier, you can drop the items off directly to his classroom on Thursday 18 January between 1pm and 3pm or alternatively bring them with you on Monday morning for the first day of school.

Your classroom teachers will contact all families this week to introduce themselves and reiterate any important information families need for the first week.

Secondary School students will commence their normal timetable on Monday after having a cohort assembly with their Head of Year. Students should check their timetable online (please note, timetables may be subject to change and should be referenced as close to Monday morning as possible) and ensure they bring the necessary equipment to school. All Secondary School students will be issued with a locker and existing students can use the same school-issued locks as last year (silver lock with black combination dial). If you do not yet have a lock, please purchase one from the Clothing Store. If the lock was left on a locker at the end of last year, it can be retrieved from Student Services. These locks have a master key we can use to assist the boys if they lose their combination. Please do not purchase a lock other than those from the Clothing Store.

If you have received a notification from Box of Books that some items are on back order, please be aware that the digital-only version of the textbooks are immediately available and will suffice until the physical copy arrives.

Uniform Requirements

Boys are required to wear summer uniform in Term 1 and are expected to comply with dress standards including polished black lace-up shoes (or velcro for Prep and Year 1), plain black belts for the appropriate year levels (no designer label belts), garters for their socks and hat. Please ensure all items of clothing are clearly marked with your son's name.

Visit our online Clothing Store to view uniform requirements or order items.

GPS Sports and Activities

GPS Sports and Activities Levy

Parents of boys who intend to participate in Sport and Activities at IGS are required to make a one-off Sports Levy payment of $35. Payment of this levy can now be made via Schoolbox/Parent Lounge/Tours and Excursions.

Once payment is complete, the boys will collect an IGS Sport and Activities Training Shirt (which is worn at all training sessions) and an IGS Water Bottle from the Clothing Store. These items will be available in the Clothing Store after Monday 22 January and can be collected by the boys during second break.

Payment of this levy will entitle boys to participate in as many sports as they wish throughout the year (not required for Chess and Debating).

Please ensure that you and your son then join the relevant Schoolbox group for the sports and activities that he will be participating in.

These groups will have training schedules and other important news distributed through them during the year.

Charter Bus Service

This year, we have introduced a new bus service provider with a software system that allows the boys student ID card to also serve as a bus pass. This system will enable real-time tracking, allowing parents to monitor the whereabouts of their children during their commute.

Boys will receive a new ID card in the first week of school so in the interim, boys will be permitted to travel on the bus without a pass until each ID card is allocated.

In addition to this, we are also introducing free transfers between IGS and IGGS.

To facilitate a seamless transition for your son, please complete the Charter Bus Application Form to ensure he is registered for the required service.

For more details about the service, including routes, fares, timetables, and instructions on how to download the Parent Software App for tracking and monitoring student travel, please refer to our website.

Schoolbox

Schoolbox is our information hub and will be your primary information source. Families new to IGS will have a Schoolbox login emailed to you and this will enable you to access the platform.

Tuckshop

The IGS Tuckshop will be open on the first day, all orders can be placed through Flexischools. If you don't already have an account through Flexischools, simply follow the link and register.
